History.
The roots of Granadilla municipality, where densely populated San Isidro stands on, date back to the late sixteenth century. It used to serve as shelter for Guanches, Indians living in the Canary Islands, who refused to yield to the will of Spanish conquistadors. There still exists valuable evidence of paramount archaeological importance such as Chiñama, La Jaquita and Tagoror del Rey necropolis caves, the latter found in the gully with the same name.
